I thought this was a Tess Monaghan book and although she was in it, (kind of obliquely) I didn't like it as much as previous ones.

This mystery story kept me guessing until the end. Guessing so wildly that I suspected nearly every character, and even wondering whether there was a murder at all. Even better, I was glued to the story for the characters as much as the plot. They were nuanced enough that none were heroic, but nearl...

This is a difficult book to review. At first I couldn't get into the storyline. It skips between so many characters and past and present times. I had trouble getting a hold on what was going on. After it caught me, it really caught me. I was so into the twisted tale of what really happened. Th...

Goodreads giveaway. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.Beautifully crafted, like a delicately woven rug. Each chapter past and present building upon each other to make the pattern complete at the end. I wanted to know the answers to the riddles, but. I didn't want to stop the expert story telling.

I always enjoy Lippman's books and this was no exception with the usual compelling story, well developed characters, and Baltimore setting. It was also nice to see a few old favorite characters pop up too.

One disappearance and then another ten years later. Could both these disappearances have been planned far apart so no one would know the real reason? Felix Brewer disappeared because he wanted to avoid going to jail for his misdeeds. He left his wife and three daughters, but was his wife really s...
