Sarah Goodwin is such a fabulous writer- her stories are real (although this one required a small suspension if disbelief), gritty, and they resonate with you long after you've finished reading them.
suspend disbelief. the premise is really not very plausible, but it's a fun "what if this happened?" kind of thing.very British, which always distances me a bit, and I often struggled to understand the motivations of the two leads. but overall, not bad.

The basic premise of the book is completely outlandish and improbable. But the enjoyable writing and skilled framing of the story actually helped it to carve out 3 stars.
