I'm an expatriate Irish writer who lives and writes on Boston's North Shore. I write both fiction and non-fiction, and I'm delighted that my personal essay "Greencard" (available on Kindle at Amoskeag Journal) has been selected as a "notable essay" in "Best American Essays 2013." Also, my essay "Sanctuary" has been nominated for a Pushcart. I've recently penned and read an essay on NPR.I never wrote or published anything until after I moved to the U.S., alone, at age 24. Check out my most recent book, "Snow" (Pixel Hall Press), a short story available via Kindle and all ebook outletsI have published four other books. DANCE LESSONS, which is set in greater Boston and Ireland, was shortlisted for the Rubery International Book Award, U.K., and came in second place in the Indie Lit Literary Awards, fiction section. Check out my author's fan page at Facebook (Aine Greaney, writer).Just like it sounds, my book, WRITER WITH A DAY JOB offers guidelines and tips for maintaining a creative writing schedule while also holding down a job. My short stories and essays have been published in U.S. and Irish literary publications, including "Salon.com," "The Daily Muse," "Women writers, women books," "Creative Nonfiction," "Natural Bridge," "The Literary Review," "The Boston Globe Magazine," "Salon.com," "The Merrimack Valley Magazine," "Books Ireland," "Under the Sun," and "Stone Canoe: A Journal of Arts and Literature from Upstate New York." I write to decipher this baffling, charming story of our lives. I write to find out where things connect and diverge. I write to let off steam and to never let myself off the hook. For me, writing and reading are an interplay of the intellect and the emotions. Come and visit me at an author event or at my website, www.ainegreaney.com. I'm also available for book club visits--in person or by Skype.
