A spiral staircase is actually helical - a spiral is two-dimensional that radiates out from a fixed point. Helix is a three-dimensional curve that doesn't change the angle, like a slinky.
This is one of those "everything you know is wrong" trivia books, which can be off-putting, but I really enjoyed this one. Lots of interesting information presented in an entertaining fashion.
Finally, a book of non-recycled quotations. Even if it increases your carbon footprint, go out and buy it already! You can quote me on that.
