Murakami is very clear about his intentions for the two parts of this book and how he went about the interviewing process, and there's a small section where he writes down his thoughts on Aum and the sarin attacks. I liked the book for its clarity, because the interviews showed the chaos of a terror...

Eh, I use the tags "science fiction" and "fantasy" very loosely with this novel. As with all of Murakami's works, it skirts the edge of this and that. It is difficult to follow if you are not paying attention, moreso when you are trying to pay attention to an audiobook as it turns out. There are t...

I've had a tough time putting my finger on my feelings about Murakami and his writing. Before investing in this collection of short stories, I've read two of the author's more celebrated works, as well as the author's terse answers for The Secret Miracle project. I'm still not convinced of Murakami'...

An early and not very good work by Mr. Murakami. Everything is here to see what he would later do, but this fell flat for me. An easy and straight forward story to read but if you are not up for insight into existential thought it may not be right for you.

'Dance' involves a man with a reoccurring dream about a missing ex-girlfriend and the shabby hotel she disappeared from. There is briefly a cat. There are transformations. There is a haunting. There is a lonely and beautiful teenage girl listening to new wave pop music. There is that person you went...

This is my third Haruki Murakami read and by far my least favorite. After Norwegian Wood and After Dark, I felt this author could do no wrong. Those two novels were vastly different from each other - one a simplistic-yet-moving coming-of-age story and the other a mindtrip into the streets and charac...

I thought this book was going to play out like a sci-fi movie with a little action thrown in, but the potential for action came and then quickly fizzled out. I guess I should've expected it, since the novel is mainly about the mysteries of the mind and its relation to reality. The main character, ho...

The first HM book that didn't draw me in and engage me. It has that familiar weird charm and hey this book even has an ending that I'm going to pass as a satisfying resolution (Murakami is often happy to leave loose ends reeeaaallly loose).I still really enjoyed HM's writing and it kept me intereste...

To cut a long story short, this novel is about a guy, your typical male Haruki Murakami character, that truly goes on a wild sheep chase. So I always thought that's what life is like. An ongoing search.I really liked the writing style, which was simple and full of emotion, whilst the plot was origina...
