Alick Lazare was born in Dominica, a small island in the Eastern Caribbean. After many years serving as a consultant in public finance management, he now spends his retirement years researching the history and culture of his island and the Caribbean region. He has written two historical novels: Pharcel - Runaway Slave (2006) and Kalinago Blood (2013). He is also the author of Nature Island Verses (a volume of poetry about life, love and politics), and a contributor to Under the Perfume Tree ( a collection of Caribbean short stories published by McMillan Caribbean).
