Published in 11 languages and with more than 1 million books in print, Alisa was named one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States by Time magazine; Latina magazine named her a Woman of the Year; Entertainment Weekly hailed her as a Breakout Literary Star; and Hispanic Business magazine has twice named her among the 100 Most Influential people in the nation. 1.5 stars.There wasn't one likable character in this story. It's such a great premise which was let down by annoyingly repetitive phrasing, nonsensical plot tangents, average writing, and weak characterisation.
Although I loved AVR's books, I couldn't get into this one.She is extremely descriptive & it irritates me. I'm about 50 or so pages in & will put it down for now.I'll try to come back later to it.
Valdes-Rodriguez is smart and funny and knows how to tell a good story.
A fun and interesting cast of characters, highly entertaining.
