I just wasn't that into the Mary Queen of Scots plot, so this failed to capture my imagination. Seemed like it would be charming. I liked the young girl first attempting to the farm life, but just didn't really get into the main plot.

I wish I'd read this when I was 12, it would have been one of my favorite books ever. As it is, I'm glad to have read it at this late date. Sweet little British story of a girl with the second sight, an enchanted house, and the doomed Mary, Queen of Scots.
I really should check to make sure that this is the right one. I have two of the Uttley books from my childhood, and I think this is one of them. it's exactly the sort of thing Terry Pratchett mocks with Mr. Bunnsey.
