Trigger warning: Abuse, self-harm, bulimia Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. I think this book did a very good job of showcasing how domestic violence can occur with teens. The last time I recall having a big discussion about this was...

I received a copy from Netgalley. Unreliable narrators aren’t usually my thing. They make me uncomfortable. The whole premise of this book made me uncomfortable. A perfect daughter of psychologists institutionalised for a crime. She’s convinced she did no wrong (even though it’s obvious from the...

Hannah Gold has been ‘wrongly institutionalized’, for something that was obviously an accident; her best friend Agnes took a horrific fall (pushed?), ending up in the ICU, her life forever changed. But Hannah’s life is forever changed too, she has been sent away to languish in an institution, missin...

This will be a short review, because I don’t want to give anything away, and this is a slowly-unfolding mystery that is best experienced through reading it. I don’t want to spoil anything! So… I requested to join this blog tour because (1) I’d read Second Star by Alyssa a few years ago and really en...

To begin, I owe an apology to Ms. Mckenzie. I reread that scene that pissed me off so much and it turns out Sunshine wasn't having a heart attack. So my bad. The scene was still really inaccurate, but I got that part wrong. The Awakening of Sunshine Girl is the sequel to The Haunting of Sunshin...

The end of this brilliantly written novel has some parts to it that were predictable and some that weren't. In the end you know that sunshine would save her mom and everything would go back to normal, but the way the storyline played out there was no clear way to know exactly what would happen next....

Really bland, predictable and silly. Obviously I have high standards for horror, and this book doesn't meet any of them. Overall, there were a variety of problems that I had with this story; not just the fear factor (or lack thereof.) The dialogue seemed dated when this story is set in modern day, w...

I'm almost certain my eyes lived in pools of tears through this whole book. If it wasn't sad, it was the happy kind of sad. However, I also cry at commercial's that show compassion... so most likely you won't cry as much as I did. Normally as a reader I shy away from any book that is "sad" but I don...
