I really wanted to like this one, vamps and regency is two of my favourites, but something just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe too much drama, or that it felt too contemporary in how the heroine acted and reacted. IDK. I´ll try the other books in this series and hope for more.

I have to be in the right mood to enjoy Historical Romance. Sometimes I just get bogged down in all the formality and language. I don't know. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for a historical romance. The story was decent and the characters ok. It just didn't grab me.

3.5 I did enjoy this book. A nice vampire tale with the expected hierarchy challenges and true love. The book ends so fast after the climax that one's head spins, but the epilogue sets up the next one.

This was a good first book for a series. I normally find the first one boring, but not this one. I look forward to reading more of Amanda's work.
