Excellent first novel from Douglas Hulick. The story is written in first person with a single character as a point of view. The prose is concise—something I prefer in my fantasy novels—and manages to keep the descriptions of the surroundings/people to a minimum. Another thing I prefer. There are no ...
I reserve 5 stars for books that are perfect. This came damn close. Swashbuckling, adventure fantasy fun with a compelling, likeable hero, interesting magic, strongly written fight scenes, and more. Well worth your time if you're a fantasy fan. A great read. Highly recommended.
