Amy L. Peterson became a stepmother in 1994 after unwittingly falling for a guy with four great kids, ages three, five 13 and 15. Since many other stories about stepmotherhood were as uplifting as lead balloons, Amy's goal in writing From Zero to Four Kids in Thirty Seconds was to write a humorous book filled with sound advice. At the same time Amy was getting used to becoming a stepmother, her husband, Mark was bringing various critters into the house. Something Furry Underfoot is Amy's humorous, heart warming memoir about the frogs, iguanas, hedgehogs, ferrets, hamsters, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, and dogs Mark brought into the house, and, well, okay, Amy's the one that brought home the cat, a domestic duck, and a rabbit. As with her first non-fiction work, Something furry Underfoot includes numerous tips. Amy also created four animal photo e-books for kids, all of which rhyme and are told from the animal's perspective. The books include: Goodnight, Big Wuzzy (about a ferret); Bumpkin Gets Big (about a domestic duck); Purrkins the Cat (about a stray cat); and Dusty the Angel Pup (about the best guard dog and pal in the world). The four critters in the kids' photo books are also included in Something Furry Underfoot. Amy has been published in numerous magazines and does weekly blog postings about nature, pets and life at amylpeterson.com. She works for the state of Michigan and lives with her husband and a variety of fuzzy animals.
