She helps women escape mis-matches, enough that she's been called "The Matchbreaker" but now she's helping James Glossup find a partner in order to inherit, and to add to the mess, someone apparently wants Henrietta dead. Entertaining and fun with a smidge of goddess-worship.

These are just fun. :-) I knew the villain at first mention. I mean, really, when every other character is, as we know, a family member or in law or connection, starring in earlier books, it wasn't hard! The mystery of why, though, kept my interest. I admit that there was a scene I expected after...

And Then She Fell is the latest in Cynster family series by Ms. Laurens. It's only the fourth book that I have read in this series. I read the three that proceed this one. At first, I was a bit thrown off because apparently, not all of the books follow each other on a linear timeline. Once I figu...

Super, super dull. There is no huge conflict in this novel at all, and the writing is on par with Stephanie Laurens' other works; good, enjoyable, but nothing exemplary that would evoke strong emotions like make me want to burst into laughter (Julia Quinn) or sob like a baby over a big pint of Ben &...

While I’ve read few other romances, I would still bet that the writing style in this book is typical of well-written books in the genre. The plot, however, seemed pretty unique. First, our heroine’s goal was definitely not to get married (a difference from many of Lauren’s other books, I think). Som...

This is the latest installment in the Cynster family series - the subset called Cynster Sisters. It's Henrietta's turn. The first part of the novel deals with her and her love interest developing their feelings and relationship. However, midway through the story turns into a murder suspense myste...

Full review at Tempting ReadsIn the case of the And Then She Fell, the bad guy came off as more interesting and mysterious than James did. I was secretly hoping the bad guy would turn out to be like Dominic from The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae: misunderstood, dark, and purposeful. (This was of...
