Andrew Norriss was teaching A level history when a visit to a hypnotherapist resulted not only in him giving up smoking but also becoming a full time writer. He adapted his best loved story Aquila (Whitbread Children's Book of the Year 1997) for television, series which, along with Bernard's Watch, Matt's Million and Woof! are remembered with great affection. His book Ctrl-Z was inspired by his son Johnny who, when he dripped baked beans on the table at supper one day, said, 'Ooops Ctrl-Z'. Andrew loves visiting schools and libraries reminding children that reading is fun and that there is nothing better than a good story. He also gives regular talks to trainee teachers at the University of Winchester where he met his wife Jane many years ago. He lives in a village in Hampshire. His other television credits include The Brittas Empire, and Chance in a Million starring Simon Callow and Brenda Blethyn.
