by Joss Whedon, Brian Lynch, Franco Urru
As far as I understand, both writer and artist were handpicked by Joss Whedon. 95% of the time or more I'm on board with anything Whedon handpicks. This team, though. The writing is unconvincing, the characters feel slightly off, I find the plot boring - which is again surprising since Whedon...
*Book source ~ Library What the hell did I just read? There’s some hinky shit going on in this volume and I’m left scratching my head in bewilderment. I’m not as pleased with this installment as the others mostly because I was clueless as to what was going on. It’s the whole time slipping crap tha...
*Book source ~ Library Taking place a few months or so (not real clear on the timeline) after the big battle in the alley, which is the result of Angel & Co. wiping out the Circle of the Black Thorn, this story catches me up on what happened and where everyone is now. Soon into the battle Wolfram ...
I love the TV show Angel and was pretty upset that it was cancelled. It ended on a major cliffhanger. I'm happy it has continued in the graphic novel form though. This first volume picks up where the TV series left off. Hell is now on earth and Angel has to find a way to stop it. There are a few surp...
Until yesterday I had never read a graphic novel. I've sold a gazillion of them. I've rolled my eyes as I listened to geeks--uh, I mean customers, employees, and yes, friends, debate DC vs. Marvel, extol the genius of Kirby and R. Crumb and Harvey Pekar, and leave the damn things lying all over my s...
This volume brought the "L.A. in hell" storyline to a close. I am not a big fan of the way that was resolved long story short, Angel tricks W&H into resetting time to before hell came to town, while leaving everyone's memories intact because it felt a little too neat and made some scenes, that had b...
Okay, I was given the understanding that this is what I was meant to start with for after Angel's series. But I think it was a real mistake on the Whedon's part to start it off after so many changes have occurred. All I kept hoping for as I read was some kind of flash back or recap explaining how th...
Picking up right where the TV series left off, season six starts by getting us up to date with all the regular characters, now that all hell has literally broken loose. The tone and characterization are right on. Dragons aside, this could have very easily happened if Angel hadn't been cancelled. It ...
I liked this, but it left a lot of questions unanswered. I suppose that's what comics are supposed to do to keep you reading. I like the Buffy comic better, but I've always been a bigger fan of Buffy than Angel anyway.
