Ania Szado's novel STUDIO SAINT-EX (Knopf) debuted in Canada (Penguin) in April 2013 as a national bestseller. A New York Daily News Top 10 Beach Read for 2013, it is forthcoming in Poland, Italy and Russia. Her novel BEGINNING OF WAS was listed for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, Best First Book (Canada/Caribbean) and the international Kiriyama Prize. Her short fiction has been anthologized and has appeared in numerous literary magazines. A resident of Toronto, Szado has a background in visual art. She teaches writing and mentors writers one-on-one, and is the 2013 Writer in Residence for Whistler, British Columbia.
