Earlier this year, after moving into my new place, I dug up some of the boxes in my parent’s basement to consolidate and prune my collections. Of course, digging up some childhood favorites, I had to pause to flip through them again, reminding me of days past when there was plenty of time to read, w...

Great example of what they call a "twice told story": the text says one thing and the illustrations add another layer. Why did I not have this in my life as a child? A instant classics of my childhood. Well beyond the abc element there was more to those photos than an episode with elmo. I could make up stories. Copy the illustrations, or at least try to. Act as a scientist as I further examined their contents. Lovely. Absolutely shinning with loveliness.

My favorite alphabet book of all time, and a good book for teaching about alliteration.I loved looking for the little boy (who is supposed to be Graeme Base as a child) in each complex picture. One of the best picture books ever...

An icon from my family's past. I instantly think of my children when they were little. In order, they were 1, 3, 4, and 5 years of age when I bought this book. Perfect. And, as another reviewer noted, this beautifully-illustrated text transcends the usual ho-hum alphabet books
