Rating based only on Mary Balogh's story, which is one of my top favourites of hers. It just grabs me by the heart-strings every time I read it.
Mary Balogh's story is delightful. Mary Jo Putney's and Anita Mills' stories are good too. Haven't yet read the other two.

I loved the book, both hero and heroine were ultimately likeble characters. The hero went slightly on the wrong path by making the heroine his mistress in exchange for defending her father but he saw light soon enough and did the right thing, especially never telling her the truth about her father.
