Ann Moore was born in England, at Brize Norton Air Force Base in the Cotswolds, to parents who soon returned to civilian life in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State, where they raised Ann and her two younger brothers in Tacoma and on Vashon Island. Always an avid reader, Ann began writing short stories in high school, going on to earn a BA English from Western Washington University and, after the birth of her son, an MA in Creative Writing. Once her daughter was born, Ann began writing GRACELIN O'MALLEY, first book of a trilogy about the 1845 Famine, the Young Irelander movement, and the mass emigration to America. During this time, she was noted by the Chicago Tribune's Nelson Algren Award for one of her short stories, 'A Long Time Getting to Know You.' Over the next few years, Ann finished the second and third books of the GRACELIN trilogy, which are now published internationally and enjoy a wide, enthusiastic readership. Ann and her husband, Rick, live up in the corner of Washington State, where they regularly walk the hills above Bellingham Bay, looking out over the San Juan Islands which are the setting for Ann's current novel, an old-fashioned mystery saga called MORLAND COVE.
