Anna Kirkland is Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies and Political Science, and Associate Director of the Institute for Research on Women and Gender (IRWG) at the University of Michigan. She holds a law degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of Vaccine Court: The Law and Politics of Injury (forthcoming from New York University Press in 2016), Fat Rights: Dilemmas of Difference and Personhood (New York University Press, 2008), and a co-editor with Jonathan Metzl of Against Health: How Health Became the New Morality (New York University Press, 2010). Professor Kirkland has been featured on NPR's All Things Considered and Morning Edition discussing the vaccine injury compensation court and in the New York Times on the topic of weight discrimination.
