Anna Waterhouse was born in Italy. She's been married for too many years to count and has one perfect daughter, because she believes in the dictum, "Quit while you're ahead." She sold and/or optioned half a dozen scripts. Then, at the tender age of 45, she had the crazy notion of getting an MFA in Creative Writing. But her life remained screenwriting/producing. This year (2015) she consulted on a premium cable miniseries, a feature-length doc for HBO, and a basic cable series. Then...Mycroft Holmes came along. Hallelujah. MFA vindicated at last! (Mycroft just made the Los Angeles Times bestseller list. She is now half of a best-selling duo!)Other highlights: ongoing work with icon of screenwriting Robert Towne; supervising producer/co-writer of Netflix/Showtime's "On the Shoulders of Giants," which won an NAACP Image Award (best documentary) and two Tellys. She's written essays for the L.A. Times and Los Angeles Mag, and several screenwriting seminars, and she teaches screenwriting at U.S.C. She works too much for hobbies. But if she had one, she's thinking horseback riding.

Mycroft's best buddy is Douglas, a black American, and Douglas actually plays a greater role in the story than Watso...

I am a long-time Holmesian, and I love to see what different authors do with the spin-offs. Some are better than others, of course ... and this is one of the best. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, himself a long-time Holmesian, has made Mycroft Holmes his main character in a story about human trafficking during...
