I feel like I may have really enjoyed this book if it hadn't been so religious. However, the religious aspect was too simplistic and really ruined this book for me. I love religion in that I love discussing it and how it makes people think. I love reading about people debating their faith and comi...
Thalli was just marked for death. She is sitting in the room full of fake flowers and their fake aroma to await a "humane" death. As if annihilation could be humane. Thalli is not ready to embrace death yet -- she just discovered the truth about her world. The Scientists, the only ones to survive th...
This is a unique dystopian, Christian fiction novel. Instead of trying to flee an evil, oppressive government, the main characters are battling the scientists who are supposedly, good. The survivors live underground after a nuclear war has destroyed the earth. Thalli is a musician in Pod C and it is...
As anyone who’s read my reviews already knows (and is most likely sick to death of hearing), I am huge on first sentences of books. I base a lot of my decision to read or not to read a book on that one small sentence. Right or wrong, there it is. And Anomaly had a killer first sentence. Score one fo...
For this reader, Anomaly was true to its name, in that its sheer level of terrible landed it on my rarely-used "too-awful-to-finish" shelf. A YA dystopian? Sure, I'll give it a whirl. A YA dystopian that beats me over the head with the author's particular brand of religion and is more than a littl...
“Anomaly” contains everything a reader expects in a good story. A protagonist, a hero, a plot with highs and lows, problems that need to be solved and an unexpected twist. Thalli knows she is different; she has known for a long time. She is also aware that being different is dangerous, so she hides ...
E-galley received from Netgalley for review.I should remember that Thomas Nelson publishes Christian fiction. With this book, you don't have to wait long before things get preachy. And I mean very preachy indeed.Thalli is a sixteen-year-old who lives in the State. She lives underground, together wit...
Recommended for: religious readers who like their Bible with a side of plotless dystopia. If you are one of the aforementioned, then just skip reading this review, it'll save you some time and you won't have to waste any more effort in leaving me a rage-filled and profanity-laced comment.Like a moth...
Anomaly is not the right book for me... It is too slow for me, not that engaging to read, it bored me a bit. So yes, I marked it as Did-Not-Finish (DNF). It might be the right book for others and I would want others to read it if they find it appealing. Hopefully, readers would enjoy this book. :)
