Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (Russian: Анто́н Па́влович Че́хов) was a Russian physician, playwright and author who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short stories in history. His career as a playwright produced four classics and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics. Chekhov practiced as a medical doctor throughout most of his literary career: "Medicine is my lawful wife", he once said, "and literature is my mistress." Along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, Chekhov is often referred to as one of the three seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in the theater.

I guess when you are swamped with the plethora of Englis...

Summary: The Kiss is about hope in love etc. The Two Volodyas is about a woman who rethinks her marriage and feels she married him for money instead of love and goes kinda crazy. Gooseberries is about finding happiness and about hope and freedom. My opinion: This is what I think every Little Blac...

I know that I am meant to love Checkov, but I was not terribly inspired by this. I feel that I would like to see it performed and I may end up watching it on You Tube. The play concerns an aristocratic family fallen on hard times and forced to sell everything that they own. The action is oblique ...
