She is perfect for being imperfect and he is damaged beneath his perfect exterior. This book was almost perfect, amazing gem in the sea of historical romances and I am thrilled that I stumbled upon it in my local library. I've read 375 pages of this book in one sitting and I believe that says ...

Pauline is a barmaid in Spindle Cove. Griff is a duke who picks Pauline as his bride. I had fun with this! I enjoyed the story-line and the little revelations that happen as the story progresses. Both characters are likable and strong. The secondary characters are great too!

15/6 - Absolutely perfect regency romance. The best one I've read in ages. I actually only recently bought it from my library's second-hand booksale for a dollar and was intending to read and review it, so I could donate it back to said library. I thought it would be a quickie that I could then get ...

The differences mainly are that Pauline doesn't have evil stepsisters, Griff is far from an ugly beast, and well the lack of magical fantasy. However, the end result...

This is a retelling of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, as is the movie Pretty Woman, so many readers will recognize the plot. Desperate for grandchildren, the Duchess of Halford kidnaps her grown son, Griff (the Duke) and brings him to Spindle Cove to pick a bride amidst the aristocratic spinsters ...

3.5 stars. Completely unrealistic, but I found I didn't care that it would never happen IRL. It was light and fluffy and a fast read.

This book and I have a very serendipitous relationship. First of all, it was chosen for The Smart Bitches, Trashy Books bookclub pick for June, but I wasn't sure if I would pick it up. I hadn't read the others in the series, and I am a big stickler for two things: spoilers and reading/watching order...
