Reading list: Summer Reading List 2015

Created by: Carissa Green Reads

Carissa's summer reading list for 2015. The books fulfill specific categories. The list is nine books long: Three each for the months of June, July, and August. That leaves plenty of room for other texts but gives me a good blueprint for making the most of the season. First book: Memorial Day weekend. Last book: Labor Day weekend.

Books: 9

1.
Manhood for Amateurs - Michael Chabon
Manhood for Amateurs
Note: A Michael Chabon Book. (I've read all of Chabon's novels and novelas at this point. All I have left are essays, short stories, and graphic novels. So write faster, Chabon, I'm counting on you.)
2.
Pale Fire - Vladimir Nabokov
Pale Fire
Note: A Classic I've Neglected
3.
Red - John Logan
Red
Note: A Play
4.
Paper Towns - John Green
Paper Towns
Note: A YA Book. I read "The Fault in Our Stars" last year, and I really liked it, plus there's a movie coming out (always read the book first), so I'll give Green another chance. (He's no relation, that I know of.)
5.
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
Ready Player One
Note: A Recommendation by a Friend
6.
The Goldfinch - Donna Tartt
The Goldfinch
Note: A Recent "Big Book"
7.
Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend - Larry Tye
Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend
Note: A baseball book.
8.
The Children Act - Ian McEwan
The Children Act
Note: An Ian McEwan Book. Why won't this book "shelve?" Sometimes BL is so buggy . . .
9.
Dark Places - Gillian Flynn
Dark Places
Note:

Heck of a list. "Paper Towns" is on Ellie's list as well. You can have a long-distance book chat.

I read Paper Towns on Sunday. I plan to write one longer post or two shorter posts about it.

Ellie should start on a book catalog site. I recommend LibraryThing for cataloging (it has a huge database from hundreds of libraries around the world) and Booklikes for cataloging and blogging/reviewing (it functions more like a social network).

Goodreads is now a big advertisement for Amazon (who we hate) and has been infiltrated by the bad corporate behavior. I only keep my account open to help advertise friends' books.
