I read it some years ago, and remember that I enjoyed it. I have it as paperback on my real shelf.
This was the first serious book I have read in a while. The writing wasn't extravagant ..but I'm sure lots of its original flare was lost in the translation of German to English. The story was gripping .. but the end was terribly sad. I actually cried reading the last page. Crying because of a book ...
