A pleasant surprise. Until now, I hadn't paid much attention to this book, though I love all Diana Wynne Jones' books. What little I'd read about it was vague and didn't tell me much. I'm glad to say that just like most of the other books by DWJ this one's funny and fascinating, and unpredictable.
Unlikely story which I quite enjoyed. Not for those who don’t like sci-fi/fantasy. (I’m still not quite sure which one this is.) (Jan 2008)
I had been wanting to read Archer's Goon for quite some time, following my discovery of Jones' Chrestomanci series and generally feeling that she was my type of writer, something that hadn't been dispelled by the enjoyment of a couple of her other novels like Eight Days of Luke and Howl's Moving Cas...
