I've been trying to write since a very young age. I'd emphasis that 'try' word there. I recently came across some of my earliest attempts and they were a bit rubbish. I suppose that's to be expected by six year old me though. These days I'd like to say I've gotten quite a bit better. The desire to follow my writer aspirations have been with me for a long time. The first time I actually tried to write a book, I got 46 pages into it, and realized it just wasn't that good. The story was there, the world was there, but it felt mechanical. I knew I had to do better. So I've been written ever since then to get good enough that I could tell that story, because it's a big one, and it'll need the best I can give it.I was a little hard on myself after that experience, but a fellow author friend of mine gave me the chance to write a short story in one of his series, and he gave me enough creative freedom that I what was supposed to be a short story became a Novella, in which I introduced several elements which have now become reoccurring elements in his universe. This went a long way towards giving me the confidence I needed to continue. For me, it's all about being true to the story. We live in a brave age where the old gatekeepers are a fading brand. Now anyone with a good story and the will to become good at their art can find an audience. So I write. I write and I look for my audience. Maybe that'll include you?
