Within West's "special wing", Ash, Deuce and Sugarbaby are being overwhelmed by the hordes of mutated Deadites. Recovering his chainsaw, Ash chops his way through the slime-filled monstrosities before being pinned by a creature with about a thousand tentacles. Sugarbaby immediately casts a spell which freezes the creature solid, allowing Deuce to shatter it like ice. As Ash catches his breath, Sugarbaby shows him his file. Apparently, during the months he spent locked up in Arkham, Sheila did everything she could to try and clear him of his crimes. Eventually, she came face to face with Dr. Whatley and vanished. Ash resolves to find Whatley and rescue Sheila. As the trio move on, they overlook an arachnid eyeball which observes their entire ordeal and quickly skitters away.

Elsewhere, while pouring over the Necronomicon, Dr. Whatley remarks that the time is almost ready for the Old Ones, Yog-Sothoth, in particular, to be released from the dimensional limbo they'd been trapped in for eons. As he delivers this exposition, he uncovers a large mirror.

In West's laboratory, the mad scientist is busy re-animating more Deadites. As he does so, he notices one of his experiments playing with a mirror, allowing him a glimpse at the real Herbert West trapped in some place. Angrily, the evil West destroys the mirror and begins to punish the Deadite. However, he is interrupted by the scuttling eyeball. Inserting the eyeball into his own eye socket, he observes Ash's battle against his Deadites and begins to consider that there might be something to the "Chosen One" after all. He decides it's time to invite Ash into the fold.
