DNF @ 102 pages (of 582). Nope. Can't do it. Can't get invested in the story and don't give a crap about the MC
, who is a murderous rapist
. I'm going to save myself form another 480 pages of this. Previous reading updates: August's Library Book Club Read Reading prog...

Way too long, could have easily shaved off a hundred pages and not harmed the plot. From the historical perspective I enjoyed it. I thought the author did a superb job of describing the English civil war, the politics and the religious upheaval of the time. But...it just wasn't my cup of tea. Not ...

Un Otelo homosexual y un poquito más inhumano que el de Shakespeare . Al haberlo leído en inglés hubo varias partes del dialecto que se me perdían , igual me las arreglé . Interesante , lento pero igual vale la pena leerlo .

This book is not for everyone. I was one of those people but it gets 3 stars for the following reasons.- It very well written!- It was realistic!- Some parts of the story were okay!I have no doubt some people will love this book. Speak to me, Jacob. The levels of madness contained within the characters of this book are vast and deep. When I try to turn over in my mind who deserved what punishment and why, I circle back on myself. This book is unlike any I've read. To say I liked it seems off, but I am glad that I read it.

It just occurred to me that, without necessarily meaning to, I find myself rereading this book once a year. I'll go months without thinking about it, without thinking about anything related to it, and then one day I'll be driving and see a tired-looking pedestrian and I'll be back there with Jacob o...

Very interesting premise but a wee bit too dark and violent for me. I should have guessed since it is set during the english civil war, a period I know next to nothing about. I vaguely imagined it to be about Henry VIII trying to break away from the catholic church and there was reference to "Cromwe...

I will never, ever, ever start a book late at night again (or until I forget that I said this). I literally read this book straight through the night, non fricking stop! This damn author has this wicked ability to warp my numb ass right back in time so that I felt like I was there watching the scene...

This is another one that is so incredibly hard to review; I feel like I've putting it off for forever. It's a difficult book to synopsise (is that a word?), but I'll have a go without giving away too many plot spoiling details..Born a gentleman, but fell on hard times, Jacob Cullen and his brothers w...
