DNFThis just isn't holding my attention right now. I love the setting, but the hero is problematic for me. The pacing is a bit sluggish as well. I'll try again at another time
A History Nut's Romantic State of Mind
This book really could have been better. I liked it well enough, was a very sweet story and Harry oh Harry so heartbreaklingly heroic. (I really do seemt o have a thing for guys named Harry.) Dizzy is alright, I don't particularly like her nor do I dislike her. It is Harry who made this story great....

I was so reluctant to pick up this book because of my love for ancient Egypt and archeology in general, but I was able to enjoy this book nonetheless.

I really liked this book. There was solid character development, great romantic tension, likeable hero and heroine, interesting action plot that didn't overwhelm the romance and humorous dialogue. I could have done without the secondary romance as it didn't add much to the story but instead seemed l...

★★★★¼ My second ¼ star rating, but it wasn’t quite at 4½ and I wanted to let some people know that it is well worth the read and might be a candidate for their “favorites shelf”. A fun book with a wonderful hero and heroine, plus many secondary characters, all set in exotic Egypt. I really put of...

I really loved this - Desdemona's fanciful imaginings reminded me of Northanger Abbey. Sweet, romantic, and very funny.

I just saw someone mention a “frenemies-to-lovers” plot, which is an apt description for this historical romance. As it opens, Desdemona (Dizzy) has been captured by Egyptian slave traders and is half-fearfully, half-eagerly waiting to see what’s going to happen. (She has a vivid and romantic imagi...

This book is set in Victorian era Caro, Egypt. I loved the main characters, Desdemona Carlisle and Harry Braxton. Desdemona was a child prodigy who was never allowed a childhood by her parents. When they died, she was sent to live with her Grandfather in Egypt. Harry, had a difficult childhood as a ...

Did not finish. Too many stereotypical and/or silly secondary characters. The Egyptian antiquities aspect of the book didn't work for me at all - the competitive acquisition and outright theft just turned me off, and the book (i.e. the writer) didn't get me interested in the objects themselves or th...

When we first meet Desdemona Carlisle she's bored, bound, a bit tipsy on fermented milk and awaiting the auctioning block. She's an Englishwoman and has been abducted by an overzealous young Arab. A romantic, Desdemona begins to fantasize about how exciting it might be to bought by a desert Prince. ...
