Granny dumpers, fat Tarzan and the monkey with the ass flavored chestnuts, tantric architecture, safe words and the sacred foreskin. Yep. Victor is a serial choker, medical school dropout, sex addict and bit player in an 18th century living museum. He may also be the Messiah. Or not. Palahniuk does ...

Choke is what I really expected it would be. Disturbing. Fucked up. Made me think "What the heck did I just read." loads of times. But that's the truth of the book. It tackles real-life situations. Things that happen to real people in our real and messed up world. It just so happened that Chuck wrot...

Be warned, this book is not for everyone. You will find addiction, depravity, sex acts of all kinds (which I found hilarious to the point of serious worry about myself), death, pain, obsession, profanity and blasphemy and thats just for Chapter 1.The main protagonist is unlikable, disgusting and an a...

I'm a huge fan of Chuck Palahniuk but this book didn't do it for me. I'm usually fascinated by his complex characters and his cynicism but it didn't work for me this time. I was mildly amused for a while but then I got bored and when I wasn't bored I was downright appalled. I know he aims for the "s...

Once saved, Victor then maintains contact with said rescuers in the hopes that t...

A fabulously funny book about a sex addict's journey through life and his struggle with his disease and family issues. The mere fact that he works at a colonial town as a blacksmith and all of the stories derived from it are worth reading this book alone. I couldn't stop laughing during all of c...

Another great one by a great author. Still twisted, funny, and with that never-letting-down morbidity that defines Palahniuk, this book was great. The characters are so jaded and messed up, but still Palahniuk somehow finds a way to relate the reader to the character.

Having waited until the memory of the film was distant enough, I approached the novel. It certainly had its moments, and when 'in moment' was challenging, confronting and addictive, if I dare use the word... Some of the devices started feeling tired in a way that similar devices did not in Palahniuk...
