Even though this is called the first Kovac and Liska book it's really not. The book focuses on Kate Conlan who is a former FBI agent and her former lover Special Agent John Quinn. Very intense thriller. Kept you guessing the entire way through the book. I liked her style of writing in that it had the complexity of that like Stieg Larsson, Millenium series.

I think Hoag's books are good, not fantastic and a bit predictable. I really no longer seek out her books as I used to do about 10 years ago, but she is an author I would continue to read if one popped up that looked interesting.
