Atar Hadari was born in Israel, raised in England and studied poetry and playwrighting with Derek Walcott at Boston University. His "Songs from Bialik: Selected Poems of Hayim Nahman Bialik" was short-listed for the American Literary Translator's Association Award 2001. His poems have won the New England Poetry Club's Daniel Varoujan award and Grolier poetry prize and appear in American Poetry Review, the Times Literary Supplement and many other journals. His recent translation of Hanoch Levin's epic "Lives of the Dead" is in the May 2009 issue of POETRY and is available online at poetryfoundation.org
