Tired of an ever increasing waistline? And yet no matter what you do you can never stop the constant need to put some food into your tummy? Then let me introduce you to the Atkins diet plan, a perfect solution for all you folk who would love to fit into those slim clothes and walk with confidence.
The Atkins diet was introduced first by Dr. Robert Atkins who out of his own need to reduce his weight formulated the diet plan and then once it was successful, he published it on the “The Journal of the American Medical Association” during the year of 1958, so technically it’s a long proven method of weight loss.
The original diet was based on the grounds of a low carb diet, with the theory that lowering the carbohydrate content makes the body depend on its fat reserves for its energy requirements, thus effectively reducing the amount of fat in your body. (It was known as the metabolic advantage)
A few years later a review was done on this topic, which stated that no such metabolic advantage existed and that the reason the people who were dieting consumed less calories was simply due to the boring nature of the diet.
This lead to the revisal of the Atkins diet plan and now it contains a much healthier mixture of nutrients. The latest book authored by West man, Vole and Piney states that rather than just simply focusing on creating a diet plan which contains less carbohydrates, they created the new recipes to include a higher content of fibers, proteins and fats, which decrease the onset of hunger, thereby reducing the daily intake of calories.
Due to this revisal the Atkins diet became so popular during the early 21st century (more specifically in the years of 2002 to 2004), that it was found out, nearly 1 out of 10 people in America were on the diet.
This approach was so strong that even the major food companies had to create Low carb varieties of their products, just to stay in business.
Unfortunately this nutritional campaign was struck with a mighty blow to its core, with the subsequent death of its founder Dr. Richard Atkins from a fatal accident. But with the present increase in levels of obese people, the Atkins Diet is re-emerging as a strong solution for this worldwide problem.
