The first six-sevenths of the book are a touch overwritten but good, emotional, interesting family and personal drama. The last seventh is interminable and frustrating.

I didn't like this book.I didn't like this book because(1) Am I the only one who figured it out just by reading the back?(2) I wanted the house to get bombed.I enjoyed Amsterdam; I just have trouble reading the book where I can't feel anything, even hate, for anyone.

I read the book. I read the discussion. I heard a lot of enthusiasm for thisbook.I didn't feel it.I thought it was a well written book, but it left me cold. I didn't reallycare whether I finished it or not.I will rate Atonement an 8.
