Augusto FaildeAugusto's commitment to the empowerment power of online education goes back to an early Stanford University experiment in computer-based self-paced courses. The class was on "Logic", and he was so engaged by this new learning experience that he finished the semester-long class in the first week. That experience has shaped his life-long belief into what he sees as one of the most powerful "equalizers" of the internet: Online Education. A commitment that continues today with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).Augusto is a co-founder of www.MOOCs.University; creator of one of the first and leading MOOCs Provider Directories, www.MOOCs.co; originator of the www.MOOCpetition.com on Change.org, and developer of the MOOCs University App available in Google Play, iTunes App Store, Amazon and other MOOC-related ventures and initiatives. At the beginning of the MOOC movement, Augusto focused on connecting some of the early MOOC platforms with the country's leading Online Community Colleges and Public University Systems with the objective of forging partnerships that would lead to a "free" or lower cost MOOCs-based degree for lower-income and underserved student populations. Earlier, as a principal with one of the country's first Online Education Consumer Organizations, AboutEdu, and in conjunction with the senior management of the country's largest American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), he proposed, and co-managed the development of the first learner-focused search portal for the affordable online programs of community colleges nationwide, "Online Community Colleges". Prior to joining AboutEdu, he was Senior Vice President of Global Business Development and a member of the start-up team of what today is a billion dollars world leader in International Higher Education - Laureate International Universities. He came to Laureate from one of the first eLearning subsidiaries by a major University, New York University's Online Education division (NYU online), where he headed Global Business Development. Mr. Failde, a frequent industry speaker, was the featured speaker on "Ethics in the Age of Online Education and MOOCs" at the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics - Higher Education Conference.He has been honored as a recipient of the World Trade Center Institute's (WTCI) International Business Leadership award, and since 2008, he has been a member of the WTCI's Board of Directors.Mr. Failde is also the co-author of one of the first Business Self-Help books for the Latino population - Simon & Schuster's "Latino Success" (English) / "Exito Latino" (Spanish), and recently "Good from Grief: How to Turn Unimaginable Grief into Something Positive thru 288 Life Stories" (2013 Grief Media).In his community, Augusto is passionate about the need to increase online grief education and support for the over 250 million people who grief each year globally, and is a Board Member of the non-profit Online Grief Support Organization "My Grief Angels" www.OnlineGrief.Support Augusto holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Harvard Business School, and a Bachelors Degree in International Relations / Economics from Stanford University.
