A very strong, solid 3.5 stars. There is a lot going on in Skylark - dystopia, post-apocalyptic, magic, AND steampunk - but Spooner makes it all come together pretty well, for the most part. A few unexpected twists and turns amp up the stakes, and it all reads easily and fast.
