Autumn Ater was born in S. Amboy, New Jersey in 1963. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1981, and began her journey, then settled into Weatherford, Texas in 2002, where she still resides today with her husband of 25 years. She is a mother, wife and mentor to others who have suffered the loss of a child or children. She is a college graduate from Texas, majoring in psychology/social work, and is the founder of A Hole in My Heart Ministry, Inc. In 2006 her son Robert passed away and has become the inspiration for her ministry work and writing. She has personally authored 2 books in the A Hole In My Heart Series and is a featured author in several other best selling books. She is passionate about her faith and is dedicated to serving bereaved mothers world wide. In October 2007, she was the recipient of the Texans with Character Award and has been a featured guest speaker at many grief and loss conventions and had multiple media mention on television, cable shows, radio, newspapers and magazines. She is also an advocate and speaker for Crimes Against Children and the Disabled Crime Victims Association. She has committed herself to charity work and the preservation of healing through loss.
