Jacob was pulled out of community college and sent to work at a technology and communications department at a military academy. He has great promise when it comes to serving his country, but his own communication skills are lacking; he hasn’t made a single friend in the entire year he’s been on campus.

As Jacob sits in his dorm room, glancing out of the window at the field-recruits who are doing their evening training he notices someone. A red head – he’s seen him before. He was over six foot, with short hair and broad shoulders & large muscles pushed up against the fabric of his thin, white t-shirt trying to break free.

As a young man with a single ex-girlfriend in his past Jacob didn’t understand his pull towards the red-headed recruit but no matter how much he denied himself contact his craving only grew its appetite.

One day, as Jacob is looking down at his tray full of food he crashes into someone. His milk slides across the floor, his peas and carrots scattered and roll around. He looks up to apologise only to notice the red-headed man stood before him.

“Are you okay?” His smile was white, shining and perfect.
Jacob’s heart had never thumped so hard in his life – nor had his crotch. What was going on?

It’s a short-lived conversation. The man heads away leaving Jacob with wobbly knees and questioning himself. He wished he could’ve done more; could’ve said more. He looks down in disappointment only to realise that in the collision the red-head had left something. A diary.

It looks like Jacob had the perfect excuse to see him again, but little did he know where that simple encounter would lead…
