My wife abandoned this as too annoying and I can see why. The narrator is a self-confessed idiot (not the term he uses) and the first part of the book emphasises this fact. I must be totally honest that I am a HUGE fan of Linwood Barclay's stand alone books (all have earned 5 stars from me). Although, I really enjoyed the main character in this book (the guy is a real smart ass), they just seemed to not pack a punch like his stand-alones do.
