Although this book was compiled in 1999, it contains the author’s early short stories, published in magazines in the 1950s and ’60s. Pre-science-fiction Vonnegut. From the days when he was a nobody and sold stories to periodicals just to keep food on the table. "Souvenir" is probably the best one in the bunch.

I enjoyed reading these early, unpolished works - he tries out many ideas that pop up in his later works in more refined form.
