Wonderful picture book biography! The mixed media, collage style illustrations are interesting and unique. I really enjoyed learning about Tony Sarg and how the Macy's Parade took off with his amazing work and dedication.

Balloons over Broadway has been on and off of my "to read" shelf about ten times. It keeps popping (no pun intended) up as a recommendation to me, it has made my Best non-fiction picture books list, and it's averaged 4.16 stars as of this review. So of course, I've added this book to my "to read" ...
I enjoyed it, but I would have liked it to be more informative.
This delightful book received both the Sibert and Orbis Pictus medals which I believe is a first. I had to read it again because I haven't looked at it since it first came. It is beautifully designed and Sweet does a wonderful job of capturing the playful spirit of Tony Sarg.
