I always find plenty to enjoy in David Sedaris books. Particularly if they're performed by him. And even more if his sister Amy is involved. I don't find every story incredibly funny but even those that I don't like a whole lot gives me something to chuckle about.

I listened to this book right after I finished An Ember in the Ashes because I needed a lighthearted funny read and David Sedaris is always good for that. Barrel Fever has some real life essays but is mainly fictional. It was a little weird to read because this is his first book, and it's very diffe...

I actually stopped reading this which is something I usually hate to do, but in this instance I just didn't see the stories improving as I went on. This was my first introduction to Sedaris and I'm really disappointed. I suppose that his sense of humour just isn't my cup of tea and that surprised ...

Comedians and their essay collections come and go, but Barrel Fever will always ...

I love novels, but Sedaris's work reminds me not to overlook short stories and essays too.His humour is more heartbreaking than funny: for example, in the first story in this collection, "Parade", the narrator names seve...

I liked it. I liked Holidays on Ice a heck of a lot more (and one of the stories and one of the essays ends up in this book) but still a very good read. I'd say that the dark humor of a lot of these stories ties everything together and gives us all a very good picture of what life can be like. Some ...

Absolutely brilliant!I've never laughed that much while reading in English. A bunch of amazing short stories which takes place in the same Raymond Carver scenarios. But where Carver is monotonous, Sedaris is hilarious. Short stories like "Jamboree" and "Season's greetings to our friends and family!!...

don't link gays and war criminals! as a member of both communities, i would like to point out that there are some stark differences.
What I Happen to Be Reading At the Moment
Early David Sedaris lacks some of the autobiographical quirkiness of his later work and a lot of these short stories are also collected in [b:SantaLand Diaries|178357|SantaLand Diaries|David Sedaris|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349066296s/178357.jpg|459137] so reading one or the other is sufficien...
