Barth Anderson is the author of two novels, The Patron Saint of Plagues and The Magician and The Fool (both from Random House) and the latter was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award in 2009. His newest work is The Book of Seven Hands, part of the Foreworld Saga and Mongoliad books, released as an e-book March 19, 2013.Anderson's short stories have appeared in Asimov's, Strange Horizons, and Talebones, and he won the Spectrum Award for Best Short Fiction in 2004 for his short story "Lark Till Dawn, Princess."Anderson is chief blogger at Fair Food Fight, specializing in shaking up the food and ag worlds. I remember disliking many of the stories. If I reread this, I'll read only stories from authors I like.

It is hard picking a book for the bedroom isn't it!? Most of my currently-reading items are heavy, and those that are not wrist-breakers have print the intsy-wintsy size and therefore swimming motion of bugs scrabbling over the page.Judging by the opening, this doesn't look as if it will suit either...

It's a near-future thriller about an extremely virulent and extremely deadly dengue. So, cool. It's not great. There's some poor writing: "an angry amount of mascara"? The characterizations are shallow, and the whole things about the verb "to be" was just plain annoying to the reader. But, it's...
