I see why everyone makes a big deal about this graphic novel, it's very well done. The story of Arkham is just as disturbing and strange as you'd expect it to be. The art is incredibly unique and I think fits with the vibe of the madhouse perfectly. My only complaint is that sometimes I wanted to se...

5 Stars, buy it Self Purchase, Comixology. First Impression: Creepy as hell. Brilliant. Amazing art. Creepy and scarey as hell. Though the text and font for Joker while reading on the iphone is really hard to read. Not as bad when reading on the computer. I was a bit confused by what exactly ...

My dislike of this book borders on violent. I realize what the author and artist were going for, and I appreciate the foreward and even the screenplay with commentary. I admit I gave up on reading the whole screenplay because I was tired and wasn't feeling well, and felt my time was better spent mov...

Batman is alerted that the inmates of Arkham Asylum have taken over the premises. If this isn't dangerous enough, they're threatening to murder everyone in the facility unless Batman agrees to a face to face meeting.I understand that a lot of people can appreciate the style in which both Morrison a...

Lets start off by saying: I hate superheroes. The little I toyed with the Batman, Superman, and the Green Hornet never excited my imagination. I could never get past the costume, and cape, and secret identity thing. I could never suspend my disbelief (still can't, the current crop of cinema gems...

I absolutely love the art in this. I hadn't seen the work of Dave McKean before, and I found it mind blowing. It's dark, terrifying, and the inmates were everything I ever wanted them to be. (This rendition of the Joker will haunt my dreams for a loooong time) The one thing that made me take one st...

I admit, I picked this up for a re-read after playing Arkham Asylum. Fantastic game, by the way, well-written, with great action and incredible voice acting. But this is not about that game, about which I could rave for hours.I remember loving this graphic novel when I first read it, but reading it ...

Reread. Perhaps one of the darkest Batman stories I have ever read. Took such an interesting, morbidly dark take on characters that are often viewed as goofy and laughable by most. Highly recommended, but not for those easily disturbed.

McKean's artwork is superbly creepy, as always. The treatment of mental illness was a little facile.
