yeah - so long as nobody else knows you are reading it, it can stretch to a 3 star...... I did mention the stretch!ETA - Because Susanna said that the film was as bad as the book, that's what I did this evening - watched the film. Yep - what b movie fun that was.
Even though I think Hubbard is a jerk and the sexism in this book is painful, there's something to be said for a book this long, written on a dare, that keeps you riveted to the page until the end. There's even clever technology in this masterwork of space opera.
A guilty pleasure but definitely a pleasure.This is pulpy space opera at its best, and if there's any Dianetic/Scientology propaganda in it, it went right over my head because I didn't recognize it.
