Cloonan's last issue has her go out with a bang: Punisher, against an EMC fueled Face. (EMC is a drug that gives people power; Face was in a coma after overdosing on EMC at the beginning of last issue.) It's gross, and hyper violent, and everything I could have hoped from Cloonan's last issue. H...

Nice and gothic. Cloonan uses fairy tale themes in three stories - Demeter, the last tale is the best. But all stories are outstading.

I want to like Gotham Academy, I really do. But I just don't. I really like the characters. I just wish they were in a different book. The comic itself is difficult to read (I had this same complaint about Vol 1). The frames are not well-defined and text box placement doesn't make sense a lot of t...

I was just getting used to the one-shots, too, which gave me the immediate gratification of having a story started and finished within twenty pages. The benefit of longer stories is the bigger payoff, and Cloonan has proven herself adapt at both the one-shot and the longer stories. The Face com...

When people are being pushed in front of trains, The Punisher tracks the culprit - and his shrine - to where the homeless live right near the train tracks. It's a homeless vet who shows Frank where the murderer hides out - and it's the vet who helps The Punisher stop the rash of murders. Becky ...

This short comic collection of 42 pages has three short stories taking place in the Dark Ages or later featuring supernatural elements. They are interesting, well-illustrated and well-told. Worth a quick look.

In fact, just a favorite author. I picked up other works by her - in mystery bags of comics, I believe - and loved them. I picked up this because Punisher, knowing that Cloonan could do The Punisher justice. In fact, she out wrote my expectations, making this more violent than I had thought she...

And I've thought so from the beginning, and said so. Maybe not in those exact words every single issue, but, yeah, pretty much. When The Punisher returns to a safe house of his in New York, he finds some a gun has been stolen. He tracks down the pawn shop that sold them, the kids that stole th...

And I'm loving it. It seems like the first story arc is complete, which makes sense: twelve issues would make two graphic novels. Everything has been wrapped up nicely, although almost everything ended up differently than I expected, starting early on. This started out brutal, and while it migh...
