First off Cassandra Campbell did a great job with the narration of this very, very long book with a whole host of characters. Secondly, did I mention this was a very, very long book? At first I thought it was an omnibus because the chapters would end and then start with "Book 2", etc. But nope, this...

This is a powerful novella exploring the theme of what it means to be human, and what cultural conflicts may arise when we start to become more. It's a very quick read, and extremely well written, so I definitely recommend it! Here's an excellent quote. It's toward the end, but doesn't spoil the plo...

Let's start with something that doesn't sound like much a compliment, but actually is - I didn't skim the final quarter of this book.Which under normal circumstances is a given. I like books, and I like reading books. But one thing I hate about reading is leaving off before the end. So, if by the mi...

Last book of 2012 for me, a good end to the year. 2.5 stars. A good study of the 'what if' scenario if sleeplessness becomes a trait for a number of people in the future with the help of genetic modification. Think of X-Men with the common "superpower" of sleeplessness with more commentary on social and personal implications but with least of the e...

I think this book and I should take some time apart. I'm sure the book would make someone else very happy. It's smart and reasonably attractive, there's just no chemistry, no spark. It's not the book; it's me.

An interesting thought experiment concerning social inequality, racism and their consequences.
