AudiobookAnother great series by this author. I loved that the language wasn't all flowery, I loved the humor, I loved the romance and the speed of it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Evaine's Books, Books and More Books
This book was a surprise to me. I wasn't expecting quite as much romance. I think part of that is that a good friend of mine really loved these books and she's not so much of a romance nor a fantasy reader. The first half of the book tells the fantasy tale of Fawn, a young woman farmer, who is run...

Fawn Bluefield spent the night in a barn and she’s a bit road weary for it. She had to leave her family’s farm and now she’s on her way to Glassforge, one of the larger cities, to find work. However, she’s soon swept up in an adventure she didn’t anticipate, one that takes much from her but holds th...

Reading the reviews, the detractors seem to fall into certain categories. Those who were expecting something like her Vorkosigan series and are disappointed it's fantasy. (Hello, it's pretty explicitly marked as fantasy from the description to the cover.) Those who were expecting something like her ...

Far more romance-focused than I expected, but a lovely sweet romance. The magic is interesting and visceral, and equal narrative weight was given to terrifying undead creatures and to the causeway devastation of a confined life. I liked it. I am terribly afraid none of this will end well.

Malices are immortal entities who draw life out of people and make them into warped versions of themselv...

Seems like these days I'm on a roll with fantasy-romances. Or would it be more accurate to call this a romance-fantasy? Unlike other romance novels I've read that feature a heavy dose of fantasy, Beguilement is more like the other way around -- romance in my fantasy rather than fantasy in my romance...

Considering that I'm generally not keen on either non-urban fantasy or romance, I enjoyed this surprisingly much. It's really a straightforward romance with some fantasy trappings instead of fantasy with some romance, but, well, it worked for me. And now I'm eager to read more.
